Measurement Guide
Prepare some tools
- Tape measure or Laser (to measure distances)
- Ladder or step stool (for reaching high places)
- Notepad and pen (for recording measurements)
Before we start
- Document your measurements following the width by height format (W x H).
- Make precise measurements to the nearest 1/8 inches (or 0.1 cm) at the locations indicated on the illustrations. Do not round down.
- Take into consideration any obstructions such as doorknobs, deadbolts, or molding that might obstruct the installation. In such cases, spacer blocks or extension brackets are available to assist in extending the shade to avoid protrusions.
- For inside mount, order at the exact opening size with no deductions. During production, the factory will apply a small deduction of approximately 0.2 inches (0.5 cm) to ensure a safe and proper installation.
- For outside mount, we will not make any deductions.
Choose a mount type
Measure the window depth: If the minimum depth requirements for inside mount is achieved, decide whether you want to do inside mount or outside mount
Options | Inside Mount - Minimum Depth | Inside Mount - Flush |
---|---|---|
Single Roller - No Valance | 2 5⁄8 in (6.5cm) | 2 5⁄8 in (6.5cm) |
Single Roller - Designer White Valance | 2 3⁄8 in (6cm) | 3 9⁄16 in (9cm) |
Double Roller - Designer White Valance | 5 1⁄8 in (13cm) | 5 2⁄8 in (13cm) |
Inside Mount
Step 1: Measure the width
Measure the width INSIDE the window frame or casing by taking three measurements: across the top, middle, and bottom. Since not all windows are perfectly built, it is crucial to measure three times. Select the shortest of the three measurements. This is your ordering width. We will take a small deduction (approx. 0.2 inches, or 0.5 cm) so the shade fits in properly.
Step 2: Measure the height
Measure the height of your window opening at three locations: left, center, and right. Select the largest measurement as your ordering height.
Outside Mount
Step 1: Measure the width
Measure the width of the areas you wish to cover, this is your ordering width. Consider adding 2-3 inches to the width measurement to help eliminate light and provide more privacy.
Step 2: Measure the height
Measure the height of the areas you wish to cover, from the mounting position to the bottom of the shades. This is your ordering height.
