Set up your remote
Your shades arrive already paired to their remote, each on its own channel, with their top and bottom stopping points set. This guide shows what each button does, how to pair a new remote or channel, and how to set or fine-tune where a shade stops.

Get to know your remote
Up. Raises the shade all the way to its top limit.
Stop. Stops the shade wherever it is.
Down. Lowers the shade all the way to its bottom limit.
‹ and ›. Step to the previous or next channel. The channel number lights up at the top of the remote.
Channels. The remote has 15 channels, numbered 1 to 15, and each shade is paired to its own. Pick a shade’s channel, then press Up, Stop or Down.
Channel 0 moves every shade paired to the remote at once. Never pair a shade to channel 0.
Keep a list of your channels
Note which channel goes with which shade, for example “1: living room left, 2: living room right”. You’ll need it whenever you pair or adjust a shade.
Pair a remote or a new channel
Do this to add a shade to a new or replacement remote, or to move a shade to a different channel. You’ll press a button on the shade’s motor and one on the back of the remote, so keep both within reach.
- 1
Choose a channel
Press ‹ or › until the remote shows the channel you want for this shade. Don’t use channel 0: it’s kept for moving all your shades at once.
- 2
Put the shade in pairing mode
Find the motor head at one end of the shade’s roller and hold its pairing button for 2 seconds. The shade jogs once (a quick up-and-down nudge) and the status light starts blinking orange.
Hold the pairing button for 2 seconds. Rechargeable motor shown; the 24V wired motor has the same light and button, without the USB-C port. - 3
Pair the remote
Take the battery cover off the back of the remote. Above the batteries are four small buttons: press P2, at the bottom right. The shade jogs once: it’s now paired to the channel you chose.
- 4
Test it
Press Up or Down. If the shade moves, you’re done. Setting up a new shade? Set its limits next.
One button, two kinds of pairing
On a Matter motor, the same button also adds the shade to a smart home app: press it 3 times quickly instead, and the light flashes green. That’s covered in the Matter setup guide.
Set the limits for the first time
The limits are the two points where a shade stops on its own: the top (fully open) and the bottom (fully closed). Your shades arrive with both already set, so you only need this for a shade that has never been set up. Pair a remote to it first.
- 1
Choose the shade’s channel
Press ‹ or › until the remote shows the shade’s channel. Not channel 0, which moves all your shades.
- 2
Check the direction
Press Up. If the shade goes down instead, hold Stop for 2 seconds to swap the directions; the shade jogs once. When Up raises the shade, go on to the next step.
- 3
Set the top limit
Use the buttons to bring the shade to where it should stop at the top. Then press Stop and Down together for 1 second. The shade starts moving down.
- 4
Set the bottom limit
Press Stop when the shade reaches where it should stop at the bottom. Then press Stop and Up together for 1 second. The shade goes back up to the top limit.
- 5
Save the limits
Wait for the shade to reach the top, then hold Stop for 2 seconds. The shade jogs once and the light goes out: the limits are saved.
Press Down, then Up, to check that the shade stops where you want. If one limit is a little off, adjust it.
Adjust a limit
If a shade stops a little short of the top or bottom, or goes too far, move that limit. You change one limit at a time.
- 1
Choose the shade’s channel
Press ‹ or › until the remote shows the shade’s channel. Not channel 0, which moves all your shades.
- 2
Send the shade to that limit
Press Up to change the top limit, or Down to change the bottom one, and wait for the shade to stop.
- 3
Hold Up and Down for 2 seconds
The shade jogs and the light starts blinking orange: the motor is ready for you to adjust the limit.
- 4
Fine-tune with Up and Down
Each press moves the shade ½ to 1 inch. Keep pressing until it sits where you want it to stop.
- 5
Hold Stop for 2 seconds
The shade jogs and the light stops blinking: the new limit is saved. To change the other limit too, start again from step 2.
Your remote and your app
The remote doesn’t need Wi-Fi. It talks to the motor directly by radio, so it keeps working when your Wi-Fi or internet is down.
Batteries. The remote takes two AAA batteries, under the cover on its back. The battery level shows at the top left of the display.
The limits live in the motor. Set them with the remote and your smart home app uses the same top and bottom.
Want app and voice control too? Shades with a Matter motor also work with Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa and Home Assistant: see the Matter setup guide.
